Much like our upcoming district referendums, while each is great on its own, they're so much better together. Maybe this is best demonstrated by a Venn Diagram. Only voting for the operational referendum will mean the district can continue employing quality staff and offering quality programming, but at the cost of an aging facility. Only voting for the capital improvement referendum (debt service) will mean quality facilities for years to come, but at the cost of having to cut quality programs and people. Voting for both referendums means quality staff and programs, in a quality facility, for generations to come. #TrojanPride

Your monthly internet bill; the cost of filling your gas tank weekly; a Snicker bar a day; your monthly cell phone bill; a can of soda a day; your weekly grocery bill. What do all of these things have in common? For the average tax payer in the North Crawford School District, all of those things listed are significantly more expensive than the tax impact most people will see as a result of our district referendums. Many of those things are necessities in peoples lives, just as passing our referendums is a necessity to the school district. #TrojanPride
Reminder to North Crawford residents that the district will be hosting a final Referendum Open House tonight in the cafeteria of the school from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This will be the final in-person opportunity to learn and ask questions about the district's upcoming Operational and Debt Service Referendums. North Crawford is 2 of 81 next week. School districts across the state, large and small, urban, suburban, and rural, are going to their communities to ask for help. October Growing Awards were given as part of our Elementary Behavior Bash yesterday. Help us in celebrating Skyler for his hard work on Dreambox for the Growing Minds Award, Jackson for being a role model for kindness and behavior for our Growing Hearts Award, and the entire 3-4 football team that showed strong leadership through the Growing Community Awards.
The Ridge and Valley Conference recently released the Fall All-Conference Teams for football, volleyball, and cross country. Congratulations to all our Trojan athletes who were recognized by the conference coaches for their accomplishments on the court, field, and course. Also a huge shout out to their coaches and teammates who pushed them to excel. #TrojanPride
Don't get spooked by our upcoming operational referendum. The district is asking voters for the authority to exceed the revenue limit in the amount of $900,000 on a recurring basis to address operational needs within the district. Our communities value excellent staff, first-rate teaching, quality curriculum, top-notch facilities, and an exceptional school district. Why is the district going to referendum? The answers are relatively simple. Inflationary increases in operational costs far exceed the increase in state revenue the district bring in each year, creating a funding gap. Additionally, we are dealing with an aging facility that requires several capital improvement projects, which we are not able to complete within the confines of our district budget. These referendums will put the district in a position to continue providing a quality education to students for generations to come.

At the upcoming November 8th election, the NCSD will ask voters to approve debt service in the amount of $4,500,000 to complete capital improvement projects in the district. The attached graphic shows those estimated costs. A few things to remember regarding this list. (1) We have divided the list into Tier 1 and Tier 2 projects, based on their urgency and priority of completion. The items in Tier 2 are not in any particular order. (2) The restroom updates in Tier 1 are either/or. If we build the 4 additional restrooms, we will not need to renovate the existing bathrooms. Restroom additions/renovations are needed to meet compliance for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). (3) The NCSD school board will have the final say on the scope of the projects that get completed within the $4.5 million. (4) As always, the scope of the projects is subject to change. (5) Most importantly, these are simply cost estimates from the Spring, 2022. Upon passage of the referendum, Kraemer Bros. will facilitate a competitive bidding process on all construction projects to ensure we are getting the best pricing. #TrojanPride
The FFA students wrapped up day 3 of convention! They attended an opening session, checked out the expo and student workshops, and finished the night with a private concert for FFA members!
The school district will hold a Referendum Open House on Wednesday, November 2nd from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Superintendent Brandon Munson will be available to answer any questions district residents might have regarding the referendum. Director of Maintenance Harry Heisz will lead tours of the building at 6:00, 6:20, 6:40, and 7:00 p.m. This will be the last in-person opportunity for community members to learn about the district's two referendum questions which will appear on the November 8th ballot. Day 2 of National FFA Convention started with a quick visit to the National FFA Center, we learned tons of FFA history! We registered and stopped into the Expo before attending the opening session in Lucas Oil Stadium! We ended the night duck pin bowling!
