We are celebrating Read Across the World week at North Crawford. Our weather day shifted plans a bit but we have times open if you are interested in reading aloud to a classroom! Our School Nutrition team invites students to join us for Read Across America Week, March 1-3. We'll take a culinary adventure to Germany, India, and Poland while we enhance the learning of other cultures through food and reading! Please encourage your students to join us for lunch; everything is made from scratch, and our recipes have been adjusted to be kid friendly. Our menu is available to grades K-12, and our students in grades K-5 will be able to stamp a class "passport" daily in our cafeteria.
Hello NC, families! I am sharing a big announcement from your Food Service Director, Jen Kapinus. I am excited to share that I have entered our district in the 2023 Spectacular Sandwich Throwdown. The showdown is a sandwich competition between districts nationwide and a fundraiser to help families struggling to pay their meal service accounts. I have created an original recipe for a Vietnamese Pork Banh Mi sandwich. The sandwich throwdown winner is decided by popular vote, and I'm competing against some very large districts. The North Crawford FFA wrapped up FFA week with a middle/high school Ag Olympics assembly this afternoon! Student's stacked apples, played tug a war,and competed in chicken bowling among other games! It was a great week of celebrating!
Middle School Solo and Ensemble took place on Tuesday, February 21 at North Crawford High School. Music students from Kickapoo and North Crawford competed in front of a music judge and received a rating after they were finished. Our breakfast and lunch menu for tomorrow, Friday, February 24th:
Breakfast: country breakfast bowl with a choice of roasted potatoes, fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage, and cheese sauce. Served with a mini cinnamon roll, fresh fruit, juice, and milk.
Lunch: Trojan popcorn chicken bowl. Served with mashed potatoes, popcorn chicken, corn, gravy, shredded cheese, whole grain breadstick, fresh strawberries, garden bar, and milk.

The North Crawford FFA would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to the community! We had a record breaking pancake dinner to celebrate National FFA week. Members made 40 lbs. of pancake mix worth of pancakes, served 10lbs of cheese curds, and over 300 sausages! Thank you all for supporting the FFA!!
Subtracting mixed numbers can be hard, especially when you have to regroup. 4th graders are having a blast with the around the room practice activity! Math can be fun!
