Reminder to our North Crawford Families- no school Monday, September 29th as this is a Staff Inservice Day.
5th graders have had an exciting week learning about decomposers. They simulated what is happening on the forest floor in a fun mystery. It turns out, there were a lot responsible for this part of our food chain! In fifth grade we love ‘leaf’ing no questions unexplored :)

We are excited to welcome Brooke Johnson to the North Crawford Math Department! Brooke will be teaching Algebra 1A, Algebra 2, Math Topics, and AP Precalculus.
Brooke is originally from the Prairie du Chien/Eastman area and is a graduate of UW–Whitewater, where she studied pure mathematics and physical science. After college, she returned to the area, began teaching, married her husband, and is now raising two beautiful daughters.
Brooke shared, “I am excited to continue to share my love of mathematics with the students at North Crawford!”

🏃♀️🏃♂️ What a week for our Cross Country teams!
We had TWO amazing meets:
🔥 First up was our Home Meet – The Goat Hill Classic on an 85-degree day! Huge shoutout to Sam for taking 1st place, Peter for finishing 9th, and the boys' team for earning 2nd overall! On the girls’ side, Ingrid ran strong and placed 4th – an awesome effort all around! All athletes ran hard in the heat and did great! 💪
🌙 Next was the Boscobel Night Meet, where perfect weather set the stage for a night full of fun, fast running, and plenty of new PRs. The atmosphere was electric, and our athletes showed up big!
We’re proud of all the hard work, grit, and team spirit – let’s keep the momentum rolling! 🙌

Our FFA Dairy and Livestock Teams traveled to River Ridge Schools today for their annual judging competition!
The Dairy Team visited four different dairy operations while judging eight classes of cows, while the Livestock Team judged four different livestock species.
We are grateful for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and practice our judging skills—thank you to River Ridge for hosting!

We are excited to welcome John Powell to the North Crawford Middle School teaching staff!
Although this is John’s first year in the classroom, he is no stranger to our district. He previously served as the North Crawford school nurse for two years and brings with him a strong background from his 15-year career in nursing.
John and his wife, Emily—who teaches in special education here at NC—are both proud North Crawford alumni. Together, they are raising five children, continuing their deep connection to our school and community.
This year, John will be teaching 8th Grade English Language Arts and Science. Beyond the classroom, he is also actively involved in our school community: coaching middle school football and basketball, supporting youth sports, playing the tuba in the pep band, and working on his family’s farm.
When he finds some free time, John enjoys watching sports, hunting, riding ATVs, playing euchre, and reading—especially historical nonfiction about U.S. presidents.
We are thrilled to have John join our team and look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our students, staff, and community. Please join us in giving him a warm North Crawford welcome!

North Crawford Students Attend Youth Leadership Conference
This July, several of our North Crawford students had the opportunity to attend the Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) at UW-Stout, sponsored by Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative.
Over three days, students from across Wisconsin came together for team-building, motivational speakers, leadership activities, and even student-led campaigns promoting the seven cooperative principles. Highlights included keynote speakers, a formal etiquette dinner, TikTok challenges, and connecting with students from other districts.
We are proud of our North Crawford participants:
Abigail Jorgensen, Abby Heisz, Carson Eckert, Julia O’Dell, Dalton Ewing and Lena Schmidt.
These students represented our school well and gained valuable leadership experience they will bring back to our community.
